[Friends] Sunday Reminders

Hi!

Just a few notes this time.

First, thanks to our Pastor Search Committee.  They are working hard and I
am sure you all join me in saying a big thank you!  Please say a prayer for
their efforts and guidance too.

Remember, we are meeting this week at the Public Safety Building, Community
Room, due to Homecoming.  This is the building right across the street from
the YMCA on Seven Hills Road.

In addition, we will be welcoming a guest pastor, Rev. Tom Hobson, for the
next two weeks too.  Here is a brief bio.

Tim Hobson is a native of Belleville, Il, where he graduated from Belleville
West High School (Class of 1976). He also spent 6 years growing up in Sao
Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, before his dad retired from the AF.  He
graduated from SIU-Carbondale in 1979, where he attended Word of Life
Fellowship during the time of Pastor Jerry Bryant and others. He graduated
from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in suburban Boston in 1983.  He has
served churches in Clark County, MO, Adair, IA, Mason City, IA, and just
moved here after 5 years in George, IA.

Tom has been a PC (USA) minister for 23 years, and most recently was a
pastor of the churches in Murphysboro and Pickneyville, IL.  He has begun
full-time studies in Old Testament at Concordia Seminary in St Louis.

Tom and his wife Catherine have been married for 25 years.  They have
children ages 14 and 7.  They love to hike and travel.  They also enjoy food
from all over the world. Tom fishes and canoes when he gets a chance.  He
loves to study Near Eastern languages, history, and geography.  He likes
70's music (REO, Kansas, Creedance, Santana, and Little River Band).  His
favorite movies include Chariots of Fire and The Assisi Underground.  He is
also a fair-weather Cardinals and Rams fan. Welcome Tom!

weekend!
