[Friends] New Creation News- Coffee and Donuts

Hi!

 

I've been meaning to send something out for awhile and Sandi Will gave me
the inspiration to get moving when she provided me the "Uneaten Donuts"
story.  I apologize for the quality of the print, but I hope you can read
the story.  It is wonderful.  

 

Also, just today in Church someone mentioned Mat's Concert.  I received the
flyer earlier via a mailing from last year, so I'm including that
information.

 

Another attachment is Gerry's July calendar.  Please contact Gerry for any
changes, additions, or deletions.

 

Finally, I thought I would include a story I received from a friend at work.
The title is simply, "Coffee Anyone".  I enjoyed it, so I thought you might
too and it is a nice complement to Sandi's Donut story. 

 

Remember, if you have anything to share with our group, call, write, email,
talk to me at church, or hand me a note and I'll include it in one of these
news bytes. 

 

Really, this is the last item.  Jason mentioned out country's founding
fathers today and the blessings we have because of their commitment and
sacrifice.   I would highly recommend reading the book, "1776" by David
McCullough for more insight on just how close our country and those brave
Patriots came to losing it all to the mighty British Empire.  God certainly
had a hand in those events of nature and circumstances that enabled them to
succeed.

Coffee Anyone?

A group of people from various/diverse backgrounds, educational levels,
cultures and economic status met at the home of a motivational professor.
Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work, home and
quality of life.

 

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned
with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic,
glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite --
telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

 

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If
you notice, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving
behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only
the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be
assured that the cup itself, adds no quality to the coffee, it is just more
expensive and in some cases it even hides what we drink. What all of you
really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best
cups. They began eyeing each other's cups.

 

Now consider this: 

 

Life is the coffee, and the jobs, money and position in society are the
cups.  They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we
have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live. 

 

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God
has provided us." God brews the coffee, not the cups..........enjoy your
coffee.
