Subject: He's home

Yes, the Gary is home. For me, I would love to have a nurse standing by
as I have to check his pulse, temp and weight each morning. And he is
eating very little. Plus there are all those bottles of medicine.

Jen and I arrived at the hospital this morning about 8:15 for him to
announce as soon as we entered the room that "he was out of here!" I
couldn't believe it. No clothes for him as I was not expecting it so
soon. But we managed and he is home. He has a lot of recovery before
he gets much activity or company. A home care nurse is coming tomorrow
and is supposed to come twice a week. She will report back to the
surgeon. We have upcoming appts with both the surgeon and his
oncologist within the next 2 - 4 weeks. After that, we'll know how we
stand. He improves a bit each day and looks forward to seeing friends
and family again as soon as his doctors give the "go" signal.

The cards and telephone messages have all been given to him and he knows
how many are thinking of him. Nothing gives you that "loved" feeling
like knowing someone is thinking about you. We both appreciate all the
offers of help and support. Jen plans to be here through Thursday and
by then I'll know his routine and whether I need help. I'll let one of
you know if I do. :-)

Meanwhile, he's home and looking forward to some long hours of sleep.
Love from us both, Pat & Gary
