[Friends] A common mission project

 Per Pastor Ron's suggestion, I have an idea of a mission project we all can
share in that benefits our community.

 

Building off of the Food Pantry, we also hook up with the Angel Food
Ministries. I just spent the morning with some folks from the Shilo
Methodist unloading a truck down in Roxanna and then distributing the food
at Shilo. For $30 month, a person can have a box of food that will feed
them. The food is restaurant quality, and is inexpensive because the AFM is
a co-op. If we have 300 orders, AFM will deliver to us, instead of having to
go to Roxana or Redbud. Shilo Methodist already has on average 150, and if
we partner with them and folks in our churches order, or people they know,
we will have it. Add to that if the Food Pantry offers it, they will be
hitting a another demographic of need (BTW AFM does take food stamps/card).
The benefit, with every order, we our co-op gets 1-2 free boxes of food, and
a percentage of the cost which can be turned around and reinvested in buying
food for the needy of O'Fallon and Shilo.
