AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION MINISTRY



Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education
each year awards congregations in the Presbyterian Church (USA) for outstanding
programs in ministry with special populations, early childhood education,
excellence in Christian education, effective youth ministry and outreach and
social concern.  These five Congregation Awards are presented at the
annual Association of Presbyterian Church Educators Conference (APCE). 
Since 1991, 62 churches in 25 states have received these awards.  Each
award carries a $1000 contribution to assist the congregations in their
ministries.  To apply for one of the awards, please call April Swofford
for an application at 804-254-8047 or 800-229-2990 ext. 747 or aswofford at union-psce.edu.  The
deadline for the 2008 Awards if November 1, 2007.



 



 



LIMITED ENROLLMENT TIMES



A full-time seminary student who is designated by his/her presbytery as
an inquirer or candidate for ordination may enroll for coverage under the
Medical Plan offered under the Benefits Plan of the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.).  Students must enroll for Medical Plan coverage between August 1

Dr. Jack Rogers, 2004 Moderator for the General Assembly of the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), will be speaking in locations throughout the
Synod of Mid-America this fall.  Mark your calendar for what is sure to be
a stimulating and thought-provoking talk on Dr. Rogers’ new book, Jesus, the Bible and Homosexuality:  Explode the
Myths, Heal the Church.   Dr. Rogers is Professor of
Theology Emeritus at San Francisco Theological Seminary.  He is the author
of many other books.  Please contact Maggie Blankers, 913-707-1798, for
more information and times and to reserve a spot (for luncheon).
