SUMMER 2007 BOARD OF PENSIONS BULLETIN AVAILABLE
At their June 23 meeting in Philadelphia,
the directors of the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
approved the addition of two pilot programs to the Assistance Program, which
provides financial and other support to Presbyterian ministers and other church
workers. The programs, Transition-to-College Assistance Grants and Sabbath
Sabbatical Support Grants, will provide much-needed financial support in two
key areas. The programs take effect August 2007 and January 2008,
respectively.
The other news, a new Express Scripts Home Delivery program for
maintenance medications was reported by the Healthcare Committee. The new
program takes effect January 1, 2008.

PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER ASSISTANCE (PDA)
Word has been received that John Calvin Presbytery has requested and
been granted $10,000 from PDA for immediate assistance in work responding to
the flooding disaster in recent days. The funds will be used to provide food
for the displaced, provide drinkable water, and provide clean-up
materials/buckets, etc.
Additional News Concerning Area Flooding:
First Presbyterian Church in Osawatomie,
KS has not taken in any water,
but 40% of the town was evacuated.
The First Presbyterian Church of Pleasanton, KS did have water in their
basement but it has been siphoned out.
PDA response teams members and Don Owens, Presbytery Executive of
Southern Kansas Presbytery, will visit churches in Southern Kansas Presbytery (Coffeyville, Independence,
Neodesha) on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 to see what needs there are in those
communities.
REGIONAL TRAINING FOR INTERIM MINISTRY

VILLAGE MANAGEMENT
COORDINATOR
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Disaster Response program of the
Presbyterian Church, USA, is
seeking a Volunteer Village Management Coordinator to oversee the operation of
6-12 villages that are the staging area and living quarters for faith based
volunteer work teams participating in the long-term recovery efforts in the Gulf Coast
and Florida.

NATIONAL PRESBYTERIAN EVANGELISM CONFERENCE
The event will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention
Center, Nashville, TN on August 31 – September 3, 2007.
The offices in the Evangelism area are joining together to present the first
National Presbyterian Evangelism Conference. If you have previously attended
any of the individual office events you won’t want to miss this one. Fifty-eight
workshops will be offered including one “Does God Still Speak? Spiritual
Practices for Transforming Congregations” lead by Rev. Amy Williams
Fowler, Associate Executive, Giddings-Lovejoy Presbytery and “Opening the
Doors” lead by Rev. Alfonso Tot, and Rev. Rick Behrens of Grandview Park
