GREATER MIDWEST REGION APA CONFERENCE
The Administrative Personnel Association (APA) for the Greater Midwest Region will hold its 5th annual conference April 26-28, 2007 at Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church, Ladue, MO (greater St. Louis area). Registration form will be included in the March Synod Mailbag. PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER ASSISTANCE (PDA)
PDA National Response Team members have been deployed to assess the needs of those in the southern Alabama and southwestern Georgia areas struck by the recent tornadoes. The Synod of South Atlantic Disaster Coordinator, The Rev. Ken McKenzie, is providing coordination and communication to the area. PDA is forwarding $10,000 to both South Alabama and Flint River Presbyteries in support of their response efforts in Enterprise, AL and Americus, GA. Those wishing to respond financially may do so through the normal mission giving channels. Please designate gifts for U.S. Disaster – DR000015. Please keep the people of the affected areas and those working to assist the survivors in your prayers.
BENEFITS TALK – THE BOARD OF PENSIONS OF THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (U.S.A.)
At their March 3 meeting in Philadelphia, PA, the directors of The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) approved a recommendation by the Pension Committee to grant a 3.7% experience apportionment increase in retirement and survivor’s pension benefits for members and eligible survivors, a 3.7% increase in pension credits for active, disabled, and vested terminated members of the Pension Plan, and a 4.0% increase in disability benefits for disabled members receiving benefits.
